Simple Woman's Daybook.

Outside my window...partly cloudy.  Still snippets of snow on the ground, very cold but I'm hoping it will warm up enough after lunch to get outside for a bit.

I am thinking...oh so many things!  Garden planning, home organization, schoolwork.  But mostly, I am thinking and dreaming about this baby and looking forward to the ultrasound next week.

I am thankful for...
--my husband who takes care of me always
--my kids who are a constant source of delight
--sippy cups
--crayons and little girls who are suddenly very, very into coloring

From the learning rooms...we have started Double-Up Days.  I love Double-Up Days--every day we double lessons in one subject.  We make the most progress in these months of January, February and March doing this.  It helps to counteract the amount of time we take off for Advent/Christmas holidays.  And, in some subjects, it is actually easier to do two lessons at once!  Initially, the kids complain this first week, then after they see the progress they're making--they jump on board.

From the kitchen...I'm still in a kitchen lull.  I need to seriously sit down and come up with some dinners that aren't chicken nuggets or spaghetti.  Guess I really need to decide what I'm making tonight....

I am wearing...slippers, a ponytail, gray sweatpants and a long-sleeve maternity t-shirt.  I'm staying home today, can you tell?

I am creating...a baby.  And 3 years worth of scrapbooks.  I haven't touched the scrapbooks since we've moved and I was really dreading it.  I had bits and pieces done from different years so it wasn't as bad as I thought.  But, my pages are really really simple just so I can get caught up.  I looked into digital scrapbooking, but I can't justify the price when I have so many supplies already.  And, there is something about the physical act of scrapping that appeals to me.

I am going...nowhere all week until piano lessons on Friday.  Boring boring.  But a good opportunity to get lots done here.

I am reading...the Bible in a year. I chose the Old Testament and New Testament together.  This one isn't geared towards a Catholic Bible.  Know if one that is???

And, lots and lots of gardening books and chicken and sheep books.  The library thinks I'm crazy about now with the amount of books I've checked out!  I wasn't thrilled with my garden last year (but I was thrilled that I had one at all) and I'm thinking bigger and better this year.  Of course, I always dream big.  But the reality is that I have to be able to afford to buy all the stuff!!  I'd really like to get apple trees in the ground this year.  We'll see.

I am hoping...for good health.  I keep joking this is the pregnancy of pain.  Unrelated to pregnancy, that is!!  I had 5 cavities filled last week... ouch.  I'd never had cavities before.

I am hearing...quiet.  The kids have finally finished up their schoolwork and they went VAMOOSE! before I could give them anything else... :)

Around the house...making some organizational progress.  I'm trying to pick a paint color for the half bath (it has no window so it makes it difficult).  I'd like to finish up some touch-up paint around the house but I have to wait for a day that I can open the windows a bit.  Ken was able to hang some shelving in the hall closet and in my craft station that makes everything a bit nicer.  I'd like to really purge Nick's room this week.  Speaking of Nick, I need to get him sleeping in a bed and not a playpen!!  Feels a bit daunting and I'm not sure if I try to move him in with Liz or not.

One of my favorite things...roses.

A few plans for the rest of the week...catch up on schoolwork and house stuff.  Finally get the last bits of Christmas stuff put away.  That's it!

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

An igloo in progress--I didn't get a pic of the finished project though!
