Tour a Country: India

We fell off the wagon with India.  We studied it, just not as thoroughly as Canada!  But, we did enjoy what we studied.  I only wish I had come up with some sort of Indian dish for dinner.  Next time, maybe.  The Tour a Country program spends four weeks on each country so there is plenty of time to spend--we just happened to have a couple of unusually crazy weeks.

However, we did do this:

All about India the country....
This book: India

All about Bengal Tigers (and we learned a lot about tigers in general not just Bengal ones.  Like that some live in snow!)....
These books: Bengal Tigers and National Geographic Readers: Tigers.

Lots of videos and images on India's travel page: http://www.incredibleindia.org/.  Full of wonderful gems like "let it lead you on the path of wisdom", lol.  But, they say a lot of the names of the cities in these videos so it is pretty interesting to hear how names are pronounced.
And of course, let's not forget about Mother Theresa!

Here is a Youtube video --an interview with Mother Theresa herself.  And to rent on Amazon, this movie on her life.  Mother Theresa holds a special place in my heart.  One of the people who really influenced my conversion (to Christianity, not Catholicism), went on a mission trip and brought me back a stamp with Mother Theresa on it.  That image of her on my fridge really touched me and who knows, maybe it was the prayers of Mother Theresa across the world for some soul she'd never met that led to my conversion! It would be a happy thought!  ;)

Next up, Peru!
