Vacation Memories.

We had the joy of our biennial family vacation last week.  Every other year, we go with Ken's extended family to the Outer Banks for a fun week of food, sand, sea and cousins!
Travel time!  Caroline was really happy if we would just give her the whole bag of pretzels.  This trip was one of our more tumultuous.  No one slept in the car for extended periods--they were just too excited!
We've started the tradition of stopping for lunch at the New River Gorge overlook.  It is a great way to get the wiggles out and have a picnic lunch.  This year, Grandma and Grandpa were able to join us!  We walked and climbed and found lots of neat creepy-crawlies.
After a stay-over in Richmond, we visited Colonial Williamsburg for a few hours.  This was our first visit and we loved it!  I'm so glad my SIL suggested we all stay for the reading of the Declaration of Independence and the Fifes and Drums march.  It was the most moving event of the whole day.  I think everyone in America should experience it!  I could probably write a whole post about it....  lol. I told Nicholas that we should get one of those stocks for time-outs.  Seems highly effective.

After Williamsburg, we made the mad dash to the beach, made it just in time for Mass, and then....relaxation.  Three days of nothing but beach time.

An evening treat--a trip to Whalehead Club and Currituck Light for crabbing with everyone.  It wasn't our most successful trip with only 3 crabs and a fish.  But it was still fun and the sunset is always beautiful.

And now...trip pics by child! Yay!  Youngest to oldest.  ;)
