A very happy 4th.

Nicholas helping to get ready.
A not-so-little recap of our 4th fun.  It was a glorious day, the weather couldn't have been better.  Food, family, fun, fireworks.  The four "f"s.  A great day to be thankful to be free, to be thankful to celebrate our Independence with family.
Uncle Ken's safari rides.  Here I was a momma dinosaur and they were all growling at me!
This one didn't want the rides to end!  He refused to smile OR take his fingers out of his mouth!

The classic cookout.  Complete with helpers.  Trust me, Caroline is really good at sitting there looking cute.  And moving hot dogs around.
Ahhh...the healthiest meal possible for a toddler.  Chips are their own complete food group.  At least, as far as Caroline is concerned.

And then, the highlight of the night....fireworks!

Here, we are enjoying the "little stuff"--ground flowers, tanks and parachutes are the highlights.

After dark, we have the "big stuff" that really goes boom and lights up the night sky.  It was a great show this year, just not great on camera.

And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

The night was capped off with lanterns and sparklers, giggles and yawns.

Then sometime after midnight.....

I hope you all enjoyed your 4th as much as we did!

"While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer. "

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.
