Halfway.

Why, hi there little Jellybean!

We've made it to the halfway point with this little baby and for that, I'm very thankful!  We had our normal midway anatomy scan last week and everything looks good!  We go back in 4 weeks for another scan because this baby was so wiggly that they could not get a good look at her spine.  Interestingly, that was the same scenario way back at week 10 and part of the reason they did the 3D image.

I've sort of dropped the ball on staying updated on the ol' blog... mostly because migraines and nausea hit me two weeks before Christmas and screens were not my friend.  Because I never blogged anything about Christmas, I didn't get to show our little "reveal" we had.

I chose to do the cfDNA test this time because of our previous losses (which came back great) but the bonus was that I knew gender the week before Christmas.  So I bought a little outfit and we told the kids that there was a special present under the tree on Christmas morning.  It was one of the most anticipated presents to be opened! They couldn't wait.  Even Ken didn't know if the baby was a boy or girl.

So, you can imagine the excitement when they opened the present and discovered a cute pink dress!  There were shouts of "I knew it!" amongst the "Yay!"and squeals of Carrie.  Caroline had insisted from the beginning that she was getting a baby sister (and I was really hoping she wouldn't be disappointed if it was a boy because I thought for sure we were having a boy.).  At any rate, it will be fun to add another sweet little girl to the family in June!

Now, we just need a name....

One, two, three... FOUR!

Our sweet Caroline turned 4 last week.  Can you believe it?  I can't!  Four seems big.  In fact, Carrie has been pretty insistent that she is "little" and downright upset if you say otherwise.  Until her birthday.  At the end of her party, she declared that she was most definitely, "big now."   Carrie's cake request was a rainbow cake with a pony.   I don't know why the top of the cake looks dented in this picture because it wasn't but it was the cutest one of Caroline!
 Celebrating with godparents and grandparents.
This cake was so easy to make.  And was so much fun when you cut into it!  Carrie is not big on sweets so I think its funny that she requests a cake still.  However, she did at least try a bite and said it was good before bouncing off to play.  (How many kids do you know that you have to ask them to try their cake? LOL!)
This photo has absolutely nothing to do with her birthday.  I just thought she looked super cute.  And peanut butter and jelly is kind of her thing.
So, for her actual birthday, we HAD to attempt to do something fun even though it was a school day and a busy errand day and mom really just wanted to go back to bed.  Two hours before the zoo closed, we left the two big boys at home and zipped over.  We ran from inside exhibit to inside exhibit.  The bonus? We saw one other mom there with her kids.  That was it.  We had the place to ourselves and it was wonderful.

And we sat on the hippos.  We always have to sit on the hippos.
We also must always do this with the alligator.  It MUST be photographed.

The only downfall of our time?  Sleepytime for a lot of the animals like the manatees.  The other bonuses:  birds tried to sit on our arms in the aviary exhibit and we had our own personal penguin feeding show!

We came home to our warm and cozy house, with a request of pancakes for birthday dessert.  Easy enough!

Happy birthday, sweet girl!  We are so thankful for your smile and your spunk and the joy that you bring to all of us.  We are wishing you a blessed, beautiful year!
